Ferry Crossing

If you are going to travel by your own transport you have a couple of choices. You can board a car ferry at dover and sail to Calais. This ferry crossing will take about 90 minutes and is the cheapest option. It is also a very relaxed way to travel to France. You have ninety minutes to enjoy a beer or soft drink, eat breakfast or have a gourmet dinner, play the fruit machines or just have a stroll on the various decks watching the White Cliffs of dover recede and Calais come into view on the horizon. You can also stock up on vat free products in their duty free shop.

Situated just outside Folkestone with easy access from Junction 11A on the M20. The main building house many shops, snack bars, restaurants, coffee shops. There is also a duty free shop to stock up your supplies. Do not forget to change your pounds into Euros at the money Exchange booths. When you are read to go follow the signs to the parking/ waiting area and wait for the lights to turn green. There are four trains an hour at peak times and you should not have to wait more than fifteen minutes for the next train. When you approach the train you will be directed to the lower deck or upper deck. Once you are loaded and parked fire doors will close on each individual department. Once the train is in motion you can walk freely between departments and decks. The whole journey takes 35 minutes and is a very stress free way of traveling. When the train arrives at its destination you drive to the front of the train and then off and straight onto the motorways of France or into the main town of Calais. There are no customs checks to go through as these have already been carried out on the UK side .

You can board the train at St Pancras station which is close to Kings Cross staion

You can also board at Ebbsfleet International with around half of the trains stopping there. There is a frequent bus / shuttle service to Ebbsfleet International from Northfleet, Dartford and Gravesend station. There is also a limited service from Ashford International.

Arrive at the station of choice at least 45 minutes before departure time as you will be leaving the country you will need to go through baggage checks and customs clearance prior to entering the departure lounge.
